Here’s a nourishing bedtime recipe designed to support better sleep and ease insomnia naturally. It’s calming, rich in tryptophan and magnesium, and helps to wind down the nervous system.
Ingredients:
1 small ripe banana (rich in magnesium + potassium)
1 cup unsweetened almond milk (magnesium-rich)
1 tsp almond butter (healthy fats to stabilise blood sugar overnight)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon (blood sugar balance + warming)
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg (natural sedative)
1 tsp raw honey or maple syrup (optional for taste)
Optional – a pinch of ashwagandha powder or reishi mushroom (for added adaptogenic support)
Instructions:
- Warm the almond milk gently in a small saucepan until just hot (not boiling).
- In a blender, combine the banana, almond butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and warm almond milk.
- Blend until smooth and frothy.
- Pour into a mug, add sweetener if desired, and sip slowly about 30–60 minutes before bed.
