Summer holidays are made for sunshine, salty hair, and long days outdoors – but without the right care, our skin can pay the price. While soaking up vitamin D is important for mood and immunity, too much time in the sun can quickly lead to dehydration, irritation, and long-term damage.

And because our skin is our largest organ – our protective barrier, our temperature regulator, our sensory communicator – it deserves a little extra love, especially during the warmer months.

With a few simple habits and clean, supportive products, you can enjoy the season while keeping your skin healthy, radiant, and resilient.

Start with a Solid Skincare Routine

Healthy skin begins with consistent, gentle care. A good routine doesn’t need to be complicated – just intentional:

  • Cleanse properly
    Use a gentle cleanser morning and night. In the evening, double cleanse to remove sunscreen, sweat and daily buildup.
  • Exfoliate with care
  • A mild exfoliant 2–3 times a week helps remove dead skin cells, smooth texture and support cell turnover (the key to that fresh summer glow).
  • Feed your skin antioxidants
    A Vitamin C serum in the morning helps brighten the complexion and offers protection from environmental stressors.
  • Lightweight hydration is your friend
    Swap heavy creams for gel or water-based moisturisers to keep skin hydrated without feeling greasy. Reapply after sun exposure.
  • Try hydrating masks
    Masks with Vitamin C or botanical hydrators help restore radiance when your skin needs an extra boost.
  • Don’t forget your lips
    Lips sunburn easily – use an SPF lip balm and apply often.

Sun Protection: Your Summer Non-Negotiable

Nourishing skincare is wonderful, but nothing works if we skip sun protection. Here’s how to stay safe while still enjoying those golden days:

  • Daily sunscreen
    Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ every day – even when it’s cloudy – and top up every two hours, or more often if swimming.
  • Protective gear
    Wide-brimmed hats, UV-protective clothing and sunglasses help shield delicate areas like the face, neck and chest.
  • Avoid peak UV hours
    When possible, limit direct sun exposure between 10am and 4pm, when UV is strongest.

Skin Health Begins Within

Glowing skin isn’t just about what we put on our body — it’s also about how we support our body from the inside.

  • Stay hydrated
    Water keeps skin plump, elastic, and radiant from within.
  • Eat skin-loving foods
    Choose antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, especially those high in Vitamin C and water content.
  • Prioritise sleep
    Quality sleep gives your skin time to repair, regenerate and restore its natural barrier.
  • Keep moving
    Gentle exercise boosts circulation, helping oxygen and nutrients reach your skin more efficiently.
