You Can Have a Marvelous Menopause
Menopause can sometimes feel like a turning point you never asked for.
Perhaps you’re waking tired, your clothes are fitting differently, your weight seems harder to shift, or you simply don’t feel quite like yourself. Maybe you’re experiencing hot flushes, disrupted sleep, changes in mood, brain fog or digestive issues and wondering, “What is happening to me?”
While menopause and changing hormones certainly play a role, there is another part of the story that often gets overlooked: this is also a stage of ageing and transition.
And ageing doesn’t have to mean becoming less vibrant, less energetic or less confident. In fact, menopause can be an opportunity to become more intentional about your health, your priorities and the woman you want to be in this next chapter.
It’s Not “Just in Your Head”

One of the most frustrating aspects of this stage of life can be feeling as though your body is no longer responding in the way it once did.
You may find yourself thinking, “I just need more willpower,” “I need to eat less,” or “Why can’t I cope like I used to?”
But your body is changing. Hormonal fluctuations can influence sleep, mood, energy, body composition, muscle and bone health, while the demands of life may also be changing around you.
This doesn’t mean something is wrong with you—and it certainly doesn’t mean you simply have to put up with feeling awful.
Rather than fighting your body, this can be a time to become curious about what it needs now.
Menopause Is About More Than Hormones
It’s easy to think of menopause purely in terms of oestrogen, hot flushes and periods. But the experience of menopause can affect your whole wellbeing.
Imagine a typical cycle: a restless night leaves you exhausted, so you reach for another coffee. You crave something sweet, your concentration suffers and you feel irritable. You skip your walk because you’re tired, feel bloated later in the day and then worry about why you don’t feel yourself.
Suddenly, what started with poor sleep has affected your food choices, movement, mood and confidence.
This is why supporting yourself through menopause needs to involve the whole woman – not simply her hormones.
A Different Approach to Ageing

Instead of asking, “How can I get my old body back?”, perhaps a more useful question is:
“How can I support the body I have now?”
That shift in perspective can change everything.
Your needs at 45, 50 or 60 may not be the same as they were at 25 or 30. Rather than trying to eat less, exercise more and push yourself harder, consider what would genuinely nourish and strengthen you.
This might mean eating satisfying meals with plenty of whole foods, quality protein, healthy fats and fibre. It might mean drinking more water, getting outside for a walk, practising Pilates or swimming – or simply moving your body in ways you enjoy.
And importantly, make strength part of the picture.
As we age, maintaining muscle and strength becomes increasingly important for mobility, confidence and independence. You don’t need to become smaller or weaker. You can become stronger.
Give Yourself Permission to Slow Down
There is another part of menopause and ageing that often gets overlooked: your emotional wellbeing.
Midlife can bring enormous changes. Children may be leaving home, ageing parents may need more support, careers and relationships can evolve, and you may find yourself questioning what you actually want from the next chapter of your life.

At the same time, many women are still trying to do everything for everyone.
Perhaps this is your invitation to do things differently.
Rest when you need to. Protect your sleep. Step outside and breathe. Spend time with people who make you laugh. Journal, meditate, listen to music or simply allow yourself to enjoy something without feeling that it needs to be productive.
Self-care isn’t another task to add to an already overflowing to-do list. It is part of looking after your health.
Stop Fighting Your Age
Ageing is not something you need to apologise for.
Your body may change. Your hormones may change. Your priorities may change. And that’s okay.
You don’t have to spend this chapter trying to recreate the woman you were 20 or 30 years ago.
Instead, you can become more connected to the woman you are today – one who has experience, wisdom, greater self-awareness and perhaps a clearer understanding of what really matters.
There is no perfect menopause, no magic diet and no single supplement that will transform the experience for everyone.
Your menopause is uniquely yours. The goal is not to do everything perfectly, but to understand your body and give it what it needs: nourishment, movement, strength, rest, connection and joy.
Your Marvelous Menopause Starts With One Small Step

Menopause doesn’t have to be something you simply survive.
It can be a time to pause, listen to your body and become more intentional about your wellbeing. It can be a time to discover what makes you feel strong, energised and connected to yourself.
So, rather than asking, “Is this just what happens when I get older?”, try asking:
“What does my body need from me now?”
Perhaps the answer is more rest. More nourishment. More movement. More strength. More connection. Or simply a little less pressure to have everything figured out.
You don’t have to navigate this stage alone. With the right support and a willingness to start small, you can move through menopause feeling more informed, more confident and more connected to yourself.
You really can have a Marvelous Menopause.
